Delphine Fustec, France – Port Services Manager
"I started in a seasonal role, loved it and stayed."
Women in maritime
What did you want to become when you were a child?
I wanted to be a vet.
Why did you choose to work within shipping?
Family matters I would say. My father was working for the Port of Cherbourg, many members of my family are seamen, either fishermen or in the Navy. I started in a seasonas job, loved it and stayed.
What is your best work-related memory?
Too many over these years, but if I would pick the one it is when Stena took over Celtic Link. Eamon Fortune and Tony Molloy came to Cherbourg for ten days to finalise everything. It was both an exciting and frightening time. Eamon and Tony were so helpful, patient and funny. We had a very great time. I will remember those ten days forever.
Who has been your role model?
A man called Patrick. He was Duty Manager at one of my previous jobs and we worked together again in the company that ran the service prior to Stena Line.
