An Apprenticeship is a job with an accompanying skills development programme under an Apprenticeship Agreement.
It allows the apprentice to gain technical knowledge and real practical experience, along with functional and personal skills, required for their immediate job and future career.
These are acquired through a mix of learning in the workplace, formal off the job training and the opportunity to practice and embed new skills in a real work context.
Survival in the water during maritime emergencies.
Emergency first aid in response to maritime accidents or medical emergencies.
Maritime sector overview.
Maritime employment environmental health and safety practice.
Vessel fire prevention and firefighting.
Vessel ropework anchoring and mooring operations.
Securing a vessel for passage.
Assisting with securing a vessel for passage.
Vessel construction and stability.
Basic vessel watchkeeping.
Control Operation of Survival Craft and Rescue Boats
In Addition Apprentices will also be required to complete the follow:
Functional skills in literacy and numeracy. Employer Rights and Responsibilities and Personal Learning and Thinking. Skills. Enclosed Spaces. Designated Security Duties. Efficient Deck Hand.
