Stena Line appoints new Group Freight Director

Stena Line is strengthening its freight organisation by recruiting Björn Petrusson as Group Freight Director. Björn will have the overall responsibility for running and developing Stena Line's freight business.

"There is growth in the European transport sector and we want to make further investments in order to expand in the freight sector," says Gunnar Blomdahl, CEO, Stena Line. "We have made investments of approx. SEK 10 billion in our fleet and we have great potential for further expansion of our volumes on the freight side."

The goal for Stena Line is to develop the business by finding where there are opportunities for expansion in order to take an increased share of the existing transport flows but also to see where the freight business can be developed geographically as well as to increase the opportunities for intermodal solutions.

Björn Petrusson comes from a position as President for the trading company Elof Hansson Trade AB. Björn has previously held a number of senior positions in international shipping and logistics, including MD of DFDS Tor Line in Sweden and Belgium, Supply Chain Director at Bulten Automotive AB and as CEO of Ewals Cargo in Scandinavia. Björn has a Master of Science from Chalmers and he takes up his new position on 1 August 2012.

"It is very gratifying that we have succeeded in recruiting Björn who, with his expertise and experience of the industry, is the right person to develop our freight business," Gunnar Blomdahl says.

Stena Line's freight business has a turnover of approx. SEK 5 billion and today, it is approx. 50% of Stena Line's total business.

"This is a big challenge with many opportunities for further growth in the freight business and I am now looking forward to being able to continue the development of Stena Line's offering to the transport buyers," Björn Petrusson says.
